Recreation in and around Tiber Island
The Tiber Island complex
includes swimming and exercise facilities. And right
next door, the beautiful Washington waterfront features boating facilities,
fishing areas, a variety of parks, a golf course, picnic areas,
and plenty of places to walk and jog. Tiber Island is also
an excellent spot to launch a bicycling tour of all of Washington's
attractions, or a longer trek up the famous C&O canal or
down the Potomac to Mount Vernon.

The
Tiber Island swimming pool is a great place
to cool off on a hot summer day in Washington, DC. It is also
the site for evening social events throughout the season. The
exercise-conscious resident has not only the pool, but also two
modern, well maintained fitness rooms equipped
with nautilus, tread mills, and exercycles for keeping the body
fit.

Walk
across the lawn between our high-rise buildings and the Law
House, and you're at the beautiful
Washington waterfront. The Washington Channel is
home to
boats of every size and description, and is
surrounded by Fort McNair, Washington Channel Park, Tiber Island,
East Potomac Park, picnic areas,
the famous Washington Fish Market, the Capital Yacht Club, six
fashionable
restaurants, and miles of walking and jogging trails.
Directly
across the Washington Channel from Tiber Island lies Haines
Point, a peninsula surrounded by the Channel and the Potomac
River. Haines Point features an 18-hole public golf
course, and open parkland.

Serious joggers may
want to sign up for the annual Marine Corps marathon. Or,
the semi-serious may simply want to watch the event from their
Tiber Island balconies.

For cyclists, Tiber Island is
a great stepping off point to highways and byways around downtown Washington as well as to
such scenic destinations as Harpers Ferry (up the beautiful
and historic
C&O Canal) and Mount Vernon (down the George Washington Parkway along
the Potomac
River). |
